LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime Robotics Brings STEAM to Life at Orchard

Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, Orchard’s new LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime STEAM kits have brought robotics to life for our sixth graders in Amanda Johnson's Middle School Technology classroom. For their recent project, students coded and assembled the kits to respond to colors by dancing...each color triggering a different move.

After working through all the details, they invited other classrooms to see the robots in action. They explained how they built and programmed the kits, hopefully sparking an interest in STEAM, especially among the younger students. Check out the video to see students in action—explaining their builds, showing off their dance moves, and inviting other classes to join the fun.

This hands-on experience challenged students to think critically and problem-solve as they worked through obstacles, while testing solutions and turning their ideas into reality.

We’re incredibly grateful to the anonymous donor whose support made this project possible, along with contributions toward student services, the arts, the challenge course, and website technology upgrades—totaling $220,000 in gifts.
