Over 70 middle school students performed
Finding Nemo, Jr. to sold-out crowds during four incredible shows on March 7, 8, and 9. These students spent months learning music, choreography, blocking, and developing their characters to bring the show to life. Theater not only allows students to shine creatively, but it also helps them build problem-solving skills, teamwork, and the confidence to try new things—like tap dancing!
The show was directed by MS Orchestra Teacher Suellen Sharp, 8th Grade Science Teacher Colleen Bumford, MS Choir/4th Grade Drama Teacher Morgan Bernat, 7th Grade English Teacher Jen Caldwell, and 5th Grade English Teacher Becky Fee, with choreography by alumna Parker Sharp '23.
Adding to the excitement, one of our preschool classrooms, The Turtles, has recently been exploring writing letters, sorting, and delivering mail throughout the school. Inspired by the musical, they decided to write a special letter to the cast—and last week, they received a visit in return!
Members of the Finding Nemo, Jr. cast stopped by The Turtles' classroom to answer their questions. The cast shared that lots of practice helped them remember their lines, and they also talked about costumes, sets, favorite songs, and when they first started performing. It was a sweet connection that brought our school community together in a meaningful way.
