Today, Orchard students joined together in the Steve Thompson Gym to celebrate the start of National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 to October 15). Our middle school students led an informative and awesome all-school assembly.

To add even more fun, Vanessa Bertoni-McElroy (Development Coordinator) showcased four fun Hispanic games, which will be available for everyone to explore in the Dignity Center throughout the month.

A big shoutout to Ellen Poletti (5th/6th Grade Spanish Teacher), Ana Grillo (7th/8th Grade Spanish Teacher), and Vanessa for their fantastic support of the assembly and program tie-ins. When we bring together different departments for a common cause, it enriches our students’ experiences and reinforces our community of belonging.

Look forward to delicious Hispanic foods prepared by Vicky Prusinski (Outdoor Education Coordinator) and her students and stay tuned for more ways to get involved, including possible special performances.

Finally, just in time for Hispanic Heritage Month, Vanessa and her family were thrilled to update the sign coming into the school by the main entrance. As part of an auction item, they chose "Paseo El Buho," which means "The Owl Passage." It’s a perfect way to be greeted when you pull into school and a great reminder of the important month-long celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month.
