Congratulations to Sara Rose ’10 and Joey Perkins ’09 on their recent engagement! They became a couple during middle school at The Orchard School and, after graduating, they both attended Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School. The two remained close after high school, but they went their separate ways for college.
Joey graduated from DePauw University in Greencastle in 2017 with a degree in communications. He is now focused on 3D-printing technology and is part owner of an Indianapolis dental prosthetic company.
Sara earned degrees in 2018 in French Language and Literature and Criminal Justice from Indiana University in Bloomington, as well as a minor in business from IU’s Kelley School of Business. She next pursued a doctor of jurisprudence degree at DePaul University College of Law in Chicago. Sara is now an attorney at SmithAmundsen in downtown Indianapolis.
In August 2019, Sara and Joey went on their first official date, and by October 2020, they got engaged. Joey didn’t propose at Orchard, however, though Sara definitely thought that was going to happen. “We’ve had a few picnics together at the Orchard Cabin during quarantine,” she said, “and the first time we went, I definitely thought he was going to propose, but he waited and did it at our home instead. It was perfect!”
The two will wed on June 11, in Carmel, and who knows, maybe they’ll sneak over to snap a few wedding photos at the place where it all began. “Orchard established our friendship, and we have such a great time reminiscing,” Sara said.
From everyone at The Orchard School, we are excited for both of you and wish you all the best in your lives together. Owls forever!
