Financial Assistance
Applicants are selected without regard to their ability to pay tuition. Every effort is made to provide financial assistance where needed.
Prospective families can request a Financial Assistance packet by marking the appropriate box on our Admission Application, or by calling the Admission's Office at 317-713-5753.
Families must then submit a completed Parents' Financial Statement form to school and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS), for calculation of financial need. SSS will make a recommendation to The Orchard School on your behalf.
The deadline to apply for financial assistance is February 15, 2008. You are encouraged to apply early. With a finite financial assistance budget, we are not able to guarantee late requests.
Affording an Orchard School Education
In a recent survey, 57% of parents of school-age children in public school said they would enroll their child in private school if they could afford to do so. However, most families never investigate the options of a private school education due to concerns regarding cost. The information provided here may help you discover that an Orchard education is within your financial reach.
An independent private school education is expensive. Orchard’s independence from local, state and federal governments provides unparalleled opportunities to develop challenging, innovative and creative educational programs. That independence, however, makes Orchard completely dependent on tuition revenue and other revenue sources (endowment interest, annual giving) to support our faculty and the broad range of programs we offer. In fact, the total cost of an Orchard Education is $19,644, on average, $7,017 more than the tuition price that we charge. The other revenue sources help to subsidize all students, including those who do not receive financial aid.
The Orchard School is committed to making an exceptional education accessible to students from all backgrounds. We recognize that an Orchard education is a major investment and one that can be a challenge for many families. While we expect families or extended families to take primary responsibility for the cost of their child(ren)’s education, Orchard remains firmly committed to helping families afford this educational choice. For the 2007-2008 school year, Orchard awarded more than $1,000,000 in financial assistance to 24% of our student body.
